Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. When she was a kid she attended the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma chose to be an actor at age six. Over the course of several years, she attended the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing, dancing and acting. As early as age ten the actress took part in and performed the main role in numerous Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Emma was discovered through Emma's Oxford Theatre instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were selected as the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance in a film was as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The film broke all records on its opening and weekend ticket numbers, and was the most-recorded 2001 movie. The film was praised by critics and the performances of the three young stars. The highly distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Then Emma was shortlisted for five prizes for her work in the film and was awarded the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in the feature Film.
